Hello fellow lumber jocks. I was wondering how many would be interested in reading a blog series on selling your work? Mainly geared toward those working in the industry or thinking of opening their own woodworking business and would be interested in a tutorial series on finding their customer base, cold calling, giving presentations and closing the sale, etc. I have been self employed in some form of woodwork for over 20 years from residential cabinets, furniture, commercial casework, wooden boat construction and currently I believe I am in business making a product that is the hardest of any product out there to sell. After all, the products I make I don’t WANT. I sell them because after I make them i definitely don’t NEED them. And to top it off, the person who needs my products has NO IDEA that they need it. What do I make you might ask? Currently I build hand crafted caskets.

The selling program that I am thinking about posting is the same approach that I have successfully employed and learned from my Masters Degree earned at the School of Hard Knocks and I believe it might be beneficial to anyone who is currently self employed in a cabinet shop or thinking of opening their own business.

I have in the past taught seminars to other companies sales staff on techniques of selling and thought it might be helpful to others on this sight as well.

If anyone is interested, just post a comment. But in your post if you could let me know what areas you would be interested in the most. That way I can tailor it to be most beneficial. ie: I dont want to take the time to post a blog on lead generation and demographics if everyone feels that is not an area they need help in. Secondly I don’t want to blog about closing if there are several out there that need help in giving presentations. The main idea would be to make it as educational as possible and for the benefit of the majority.

Anyway, just let me know.
