Cabinet Refacing #4: Drawer parts and a Case

Well back at it today, had a great time with the grandkids visiting.

Manage to get thec1/2” plywood cut down, milled up and glued together for the single 30” base cabinet being added.

My panel cutting jig.

Case parts

Case, need to make face frame yet

Then on to the drawer parts, once I laid out all the cuts on the stock, (did not have much waste). I proceded to cut all parts to length. I use stop blocks on the extended fence of the miter saw.

Then it’s over to the table saw, set up 1/2” dado stack and start cutting dados in the side pieces.
Using a stop block on the miter gague, the ends went quickly. Moved the stop block over to cut the dado at the back, just short of the end by 1/2”. Test fist reveled a tight joint, had to add a shim to the dado stack. (that worked, nice fit, tad lose)

Stack of drawer parts

Removed dado set and put the standard blade back in. Set the fence to cut the bottom grove, 2 passes. The dado stack would have made a really lose fit.

Front of sides, front and back.

And a dry fit of the parts.

Still need to cut the drawer bottoms. The drawers will have a drawer face attached, which are cut and stacked with the doors.

And I put a simple sled together for the table saw for cross cuts. Made from a piece / drop of plywood from the cabinet case.

So far not much in waste on this project, I do have about 15 pieces of Poplar measuring from 1-1/4” to 1-1/2” by 6’ & 8’ lengths. Maybe some segment turning in the future.

Thanks for reading and comments are always welcome and appreciated.
