A Project for August #2: Rip & Cut...

Need to cut up the 1×6 x 65” plank….I cut out the section that had the live edge…then set the rip fence to 1-1/2” width..and run what is left through a few times…

That will do, for a start…using the panels to get a rough idea for lengths…

Lots of parts..

Parts is Parts….stiles & rails….to make the frames…to house the panels….things were looking a bit “klunky” decided to narrow the parts to 1-3/8” width…that was the easy part….when I also decided to go with 5/8” thick, instead of 7/8” thick….then things get complicated…as the old Zero Clearance Overlay had just snapped in 2 pieces…hate when that happens..

New 1/4” plywood panel..

With the blade lowered all the way…clamp the panel in place…

Turn the saw on…slowly raise the blade all the way up….shut the saw off…reset the fence to 5/8”...

Then run all the parts through…using a push stick..

Hmm, may need to work on that, too…right now, it is working just fine..

So… now all the parts for the frames are all the same thickness and width….next up?

Will be milling a groove to house the panels….may need to rebate the inside of the panels…

Stay tuned…
