Making a Stopped Sliding Dovetail

I’m in the process of making a simple shelf. For the bracket to shelf assembly I didn’t want to just use some screws from the top holding it down. I also wanted to get some joinery practice in. For the joinery I decided to make a stopped sliding dovetail. It is a fairly easy joint to make with just basic hand tools. In the video I go over all the steps. I used a 1/8 angle because I didn’t want to have something too drastic, just enough to keep a grip. Let me know what you guys think and if you have used this before. A future project I am planning is going to be using through sliding dovetails. Check out the video following this link .
