Issues with jointer

I bought a used joiner that is not working properly

My long straight edge tells me the in feed and out feed tables are level/in line (co planer?) The outfeed table is level with the blades and both tables are at 90 degrees to the fence. All three of the blades are level/even with the out feed table.

It’s an old 6” Yorkcraft professional jointer. I have the manual, worked every adjustment in it and watched several youtube videos to be certain my technique is correct. However, no matter how much I work the adjustments or watch videos to ensure I’m using the right technique I keep having the issue described below.

After a few to several pass of a 4’ L x 4” W x 4” T board, the ‘front’ of the board – first contact with the knives – always ends up narrower than the far end. It’s as if I’m sharpening a pencil for the Jolly Green Giant. An exaggerated example of what I end up with is a board that started at 4’ x 4” x 4’ but the jointed board is 4’ x 3” x 3” at the front end and 4’ x 4” x 4” at the end.

Yorkcraft is no longer in business and the person I bought it from is no longer available.

What can I do in terms of adjustments and technique to get this thing working properly or is the best course of action to put it out for the Fall bulk pickup and buy a new one?

Any help is greatly appreciated. My frustration with this is extreme.

Thanks.

Pete/Fagaceae
